Dear Zion Baptist Church,
I would like to graciously thank you for the opportunity you gave us to serve as a family through “Find It Here”. I know we were supposed to go out “weeping”, but I couldn’t help being “joyful”, as I watched my young children so excited about sharing Christ with our town. When we were given our assignment, it happened to be our neighborhood. We went home, put Sophia in a wagon and Jacob grabbed his bike. Nothing seemed different or special about that Sunday morning as I dressed for church. Nothing, that is, until I came to the decision of which shoes to wear. Being a teen, I usually dress somewhat casually and often wear flip-flops of one kind or another. On this morning, as I chose which pair of flip-flops were appropriate, something urged me to wear my favorite shoes–the $80 Sperry pair.

Our family began in November of 2001 when I gave birth to Seth. Jon and I knew that God was not finished with our family.

In 2003 and 2005 I had miscarriages. This was a very hard time for me. After the second miscarriage, I was told that I could not have any more children and I had to have a hysterectomy.

Over spring break this year we loaded up our Expedition as we usually do and headed for my parents house in Texas. Unlike most times, however this trip would be bitter sweet as my Mom has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We had planned on leaving Saturday, but the stomach virus had ravaged our household attacking both my young boys, my husband and then myself. It was Tuesday before we made the difficult decision to go ahead and visit even though we might take this nasty virus with us.
